Today is my Mommy's birthday. I think I will call it a Barkday. When she was born she had a Beagle named Max. She called him Maxie, and they were best friends. She loved him so much that when she got a dog of her own, she chose a Beagle (that's me, Maggie!). Aren't I lucky?
Thank you, Maxie, for being such a good dog! You set me up, big time.
Paws in the City: My First New Years EveSo last weekend was New Years Eve. This is a new Holiday for me. (Actually, they are all new... how many can there be? When will it end?). Mommy and Daddy packed me up in the car and we drove to their friends' house in the Big City where there is hardly any grass but there are lots and lots of interesting smells. I had never been to the Big City before so it was very exciting. And once we got there, who did I see?

Why, it was my friend Otter! The people were all a little worried about how Otter would react to me being in her house. Apparently some dogs really get on her last nerve when they visit, and then she throws up. But not me. We were pal'ing it up in no time. I even let Otter go into my Cave for a minute (but only a minute--that was enough). We shared water and snacks and the couch and laps...

Now, I don't know why those people had to ruin it by putting Otter's antlers on me. Her antlers were obviously not made for a Beagle, and they were not nearly as colorful as
mine.

Which is why you see me here trying to get them off. But don't worry pups, I did. Lickety split.
So that night I slept at Otter's house and I got to go on lots of trips outside for chop chop in the Big City. I was really good because I figured out where the front door was and I would sniff around it when I had to go. Except when I was upstairs. That was a little confusing.
In the end I had a lot of fun! I hope this means that me and Otter will get to hang out more often. She's not one for games of chase, but I hope she teaches me to jump the way she does someday. I love that Otter.
