Now that it's Spring...

...and my Mommy works from home, and it is nice outside, I get:

longer walks,

to play more games outside,

to go on more rides,

and discover lots and lots of beautiful things.

I also sleep a lot better at night.

I *heart* Snoopy

Yesterday Mommy and I were on our morning walk when we kept running into all kinds of dawgies. It was a beautiful Spring day with lots of Spring smells to smell so I can see why so many dawgies were out walking their people. First we saw Brownie, an old girl who looks like she may have had a Beagle birth mom or dad, and something else. She was nice, but she wasn't really good at running around, no matter how hard I tried to show her.

Brownie's Mom asked if I was Snoopy. Now, this is not the first time someone has asked if I was Snoopy. I have heard about Snoopy many, many times, but I have never seen him. Apparently he is a Beagle too, and about my size. He also does lots of tricks like dancing for treats and begging and sitting and he howls a lot. See, I told you I hear a lot about Snoopy. So yesterday while my Mommy was talking to Brownie's Mom, Brownie's Mom said, "Oh! Here he comes now!" and then I saw him. My heart jumped. My tail wagged. My legs started pulling us towards him. And oh my gosh, he looked so much like me! It was like we chose to wear the same outfit to the same party. He has very similar markings on his body, but his face is a little different... darker with a rounder nose. But oh gee, he was a cutie.

And he had a friend with him named Zeek! Zeek was a German Shorthair Pointer and he was a very fetching dog. Tall, dark and handsome. But a little too serious for me. Snoopy was much more my style. We're almost the same age, too! He is a year and a half, while I am a year. His Mom got him from the SPCA when he was 10 months old and she said that she can see why someone might not have been able to handle him, whatever that means. All I know is--we looked, acted, played and wagged almost exactly the same.

BUT--you know what he could do that I don't know how to do yet? He could BAY. He could HOWL. A deep, mournful A-ROOOOL! AR AR AROOOOLOOLOO! Ok, so I was impressed. I'll have to try that one later.

And we walked all the way down the bus path together--Snoopy, Zeek and I, and our Mommies. Our Mommies talked while we sniffed bums, circled around and got tangled in each others' leashes. If only they'd take them off and set us free to romp! I guess that could have been dangerous, with all the cars and buses around we might have lost focus and gotten hurt.

As Snoopy and Zeek turned back to walk to their homes, Mommy and me cut through Merwood Park to go home. As we walked away I looked back at Snoopy a few more times. When I finally got on my way, I could hear him calling to me, "A-ROOOO! AR AR AROOOOOL! BYE BYE MAGGIE MAY! I HOPE WE MEET AGAIN, A-ROOOOOOLOOLOO!"

And guess what? I did see him again today. And Zeek. We walked the whole bus path again. Isn't life grand?

*Sigh* He had me at "Arrooo."
