It's summertime and the living is easy

Me and my friend Naomi. She lives on the walking path we take every morning, and always has a treat for me. She has a book of pictures of all the dogs in the neighborhood, but I know I'm her favorite because I'm on the FRONT COVER, with this picture you see right here. Don't you want to stick your nose in her hair it's so cute? I do whenever I can.

So... Hello Pups! I know it's been a long time since I dropped a line. Well it's summertime here now, so there is just so much to do! In fact, I have some new favorite hobbies to share with you. Here are just a few:

1. Chasing and catching lightning bugs in my mouth at night in the yard.
2. Chasing and trying to catch the files that come into the house during the day.
3. Taking longer walks to new places.
4. After a long hot walk in the sun, coming back home and trying to catch the water that comes out of the hose, then running away as my Mommy tries make it rain on me. It's fun!
5. Chasing the carpenter bees under the deck.
6. Digging holes in the red gravel under the deck.
7. Digging holes at the base of every tree and shrub.
8. Digging up plants that Mommy put in the ground last year... obviously she means for me to uproot them for her.
9. Having puppy play dates with Luca, my "dog next door."
10. Laying still in the sun, feeling it warm the black hairs on my back, which puts me to sleep.
11. Waking up and rolling in the grass, so cool and soft!
12. Barking a lot. I can now tell when a cat is anywhere within 10 yards of the perimeter of my house. And if I sniff 'em, I'll be sure to let you know with a "Barrooo-woo-woo!" until you get up and look out the window. And even then I'll make sure the cat knows we're looking for him, by continuing with a "BARK! BARK! BARK! Barroo-roo-roo BARK!" I can do this one for hours.
13. Walking in the creek behind the house. I wasn't so sure about this for a long time, but then one day when we were walking with another pack of dogs, they showed me how much fun it can be! Of course I'm no Lab so I didn't stay in the water for quite as long as Jones did, but I got my feet wet.

There's something new to do every day. There are so many different kinds of bugs to chase, and there are new dogs to meet in the neighborhood nearly every week! Baby dogs, old dogs, dogs from out of town... I can hardly sit still just thinking about it. In fact, I'm gonna go run out to the yard right now and see if there are any pups in the park out back! Arroo!
