Guess who’s two?
That’s right, my once-little puppy turns two years old today. Fourteen in dog years. *sniff sniff* My little girl’s almost all grown up!
Well, she does still act like a puppy. She doesn’t seem a day over 1. One might expect some “mellowing out” after 2 years of puppyhood, but she shows no signs of stopping. On our walks, more times than not, passersby exclaim, “oh look at that cute puppy!”
Maggie is spending most of her special day today lying like a dog on the couch, keeping me company while I weather an upset stomach that began last night. Our local doggie heaven, Mountain Dawg Outfitters, is closed today, so tomorrow I’ll take her there to pick out some treats. She could also use some practical doggie gear like a new harness, some doggie-doo bags and perhaps a hiking beacon. Maggie’s starting to become quite the outdoor sports dog, accompanying me on snowshoeing adventures at night and more intense walks. As the weather warms to a tropical 45 degrees on some days, it is a sin not to spend more time outdoors. She can not wait til the snow melts and we put a fence up in the backyard. She has been quite bored with all this indoor living. I think her recent bouts of incessant barking and territorial behaviors can be attributed to cabin fever.
This week I have several new design projects to begin, and I could use some more. But until I get a little busier, I’ll be skiing as much as possible before the season ends. Winter Park Resort closes in less than three weeks! I can not believe how quickly these six months of winter have flown. And I can not believe I’m saying that. I’m still not nearly as itchy for Spring as I would normally be this time of year. Good thing, because it is snowing–again!
