When it came time to add my latest book, The Secret Life of the Sloth, to my website, I found myself unable to add new or change existing content. After 25 years of editing this website, I knew this day would come eventually, but—now? Of course, now. On one hand, I feel distressed that I will lose whatever SEO I had built over the past couple decades with PenguinArt.com. On the other, there’s a lightness to not having so much old baggage stacked behind me here. Lighter is better. Don’t you agree?
I shall refrain from writing a garbage analogy between a blank canvas and starting over. Blank canvases are terrifying. How about eight wheels on hard pavement instead?
