“Sing Me To Sleep – Indie Lullabies” has been my little pet project since earlier this year. Along with Joe Spadaro of American Laundromat Records, I am co-producing this compilation of non-traditional lullabies performed by some of my favorite indie artists. Here’s the list:
The Antlers • Peter Broderick • The Coctails • Violet Clarke (Grand Duchy) • Dean & Britta • Tanya Donelly • Laura Gibson • Neil Halstead • Greg Laswell • The Leisure Society • Casey Mecija (Ohbijou) • Memory Tapes • O+S • Papercuts • Julie Peel • The Real Tuesday Weld • The Rest • Say Hi • Sigur Ros • Snowbird • Stars • Telekinesis • Trespassers William • Jenny Owen Youngs
The best part? All proceeds from sales of the album will benefit The Valerie Fund, a US non-profit that supports the care and treatment of children with cancer and rare blood disorders. All of these talented, generous musicians are donating their time and recordings to the project. Please join me in supporting them in return. Go see them play. Go buy one of their gorgeous albums.
In addition to choosing the artists, songs and the charity for this project, I have the honor of creating all the artwork for the album and its promotional items. All packaging, all related art—including any mag or web ad you see for “Sing Me To Sleep”—is a piece of my handiwork. If you act quickly you can purchase one of our Limited Edition Pre-Order Packages while they’re still available. The bonus goodies are well worth the modest price. So are the kids who benefit from your donation.
After hearing just a few tracks, I simply Can. Not. Wait. to have the finished product in hand. It’s gonna be something pretty special. Many, many thanks to Joe and to all who are involved in this stellar compilation of indie for kids.
